B2B Buyer Guide: What to Confirm Before Quotation

  • Confirm connector types at both ends, APC/UPC polish, fiber mode, cable diameter and length.
  • Check insertion loss, return loss, end-face inspection and labeling requirements for your project.
  • Specify jacket material, color code, package quantity, carton marking and destination-market documents.
  • For stock orders, confirm common lengths such as 1 m, 2 m and 3 m; for projects, confirm custom length tolerance.
  • For matched procurement, combine patch cords with adapters, pigtails, splitters, ODF trays and distribution boxes.

FAQ
Q:

Can I mix UPC and APC connectors?

A:
Directly mating a UPC connector with an APC connector is not recommended. It adds 0.4‑0.7dB insertion loss and degrades return loss to ≈35dB. For mixed applications, use a dedicated hybrid patch cord (e.g., LF005 on this site).
Q:

How to identify APC vs UPC connectors?

A:
APC connectors have a green ferrule. UPC connectors are typically blue (or black). Green adapters also indicate APC. Check the color.

Q:

Can the hybrid cord be used reversed (UPC side connected to APC equipment)?

A:
Yes, the cord is symmetrical in function. The APC end must be plugged into an APC adapter, and the UPC end into a UPC adapter. The performance is identical in either orientation.
Q:

What are the exact end‑face angles of APC and UPC, and their typical applications?

A:
APC has an 8° angled ferrule, while UPC has a 0° slightly domed surface. APC provides much lower reflection (≤‑60dB) for analog video, CATV, RFoG. UPC (≤‑50dB) is sufficient for most digital systems like Ethernet and PON.
